An Apartment in Eaton Square
The master bedroom of this first floor maisonette was created for one of our international clients. The panelled walls are all upholstered in the same silk fabric as the curtains and bed drapery. The curtain poles have been padded and upholstered, and finished with a silver cord to give a barley twist effect.
The ‘bateau’ bed (bottom left) has also been completely reupholstered to create a sense of luxury and opulence, with a superb hand quilted bedspread. The skirted tables and custom-made ottoman are covered in antique silver embroidered white satin. A pair of Osler glass chairs circa 1880 (detail bottom right), made in England for the export market, are upholstered to complement the luxurious fabric-covered walls. The glass table, one of a pair, is also by Osler. CVP supervised the restoration of the above items to their former glory.

The curtains are also hand quilted, with specially commissioned tassel tie backs to complement the pleated trim on the front edge of the curtains. The Venetian mirror and the console, both items on the client’s ‘shopping list’, were found separately and were also restored to perfection under the supervision of CVP. The beauty of these mirrored items is that they will always match any room of any period in which they are placed, as the room’s colours reflect in the mirror work. The Osler glass armchair is covered in a white, woven horse hair fabric.
